Freiburg has extended the contract of Belki Yilmaz, with the new deal expected to run until 2028.

Freiburg officially announced on Monday that they have extended the contract of left-back Belki Yilmaz, whose contract expired this summer. According to Sky Sports Germany, the new contract is expected to run until June 30, 2028.

The official announcement also confirmed that Yilmaz will return to his parent club Nuremberg after his loan spell ends this summer. He has played for Nuremberg in the 2. Bundesliga since August 2024, making 58 appearances, scoring one goal and providing eight assists.

Regarding Yilmaz's return and contract extension, Freiburg's sporting director, Clemens Hartenbach, commented: "Berke has adapted very well to the pace of the 2. Bundesliga and has demonstrated a well-rounded attacking and defensive style at Nuremberg. He has a strong mentality and a very strong sense of belonging to Freiburg. This lays a good foundation for both sides to continue refining the details in the future cooperation. We are full of expectations for this and are also very grateful to Nuremberg for their excellent cooperation during the loan period."

As a product of Freiburg's youth academy, Yilmaz has yet to make his first-team debut. This contract extension is undoubtedly a major milestone in his career.

After signing the new contract, Yilmaz excitedly said, "I had a wonderful time in Nuremberg and I am very grateful for it. However, my plan and desire has always been to establish myself in Freiburg. That's why today is so meaningful to me. I really look forward to wearing the Freiburg jersey at Europa Park and celebrating victory with everyone."
