Chelsea's draw against Liverpool is seen as a positive sign by Callum McFarlane.

Chelsea, nicknamed the "Blues," drew 1-1 with Liverpool in a key match of the 36th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season after falling behind, thanks to a goal from Enzo. Callum McFarlane stated that Chelsea had chances to win the game, but it was still an excellent performance.

In the 6th minute, Ngumoha passed the ball back to Hrafinbech at the edge of the penalty area and fired a long-range shot into the net, giving Liverpool a dream start with a 1-0 lead.

In the 35th minute, Chelsea won a free kick, and Enzo scored directly, helping Chelsea equalize the score at 1-1.

Chelsea ultimately held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Anfield. Ending their losing streak, Chelsea currently sit 9th in the league table with 49 points.

Chelsea interim manager Callum McFarlane said: "It was a very good performance, and at times the game could have gone either way. Perhaps a little selfishly, I think we could have won the game because the team created some very good chances."

“I remember Enzo’s chances in the first half, and Cucurella’s several dangerous crosses, including one that was slightly offside. I know the referee’s job is difficult, but I think it was a very clear penalty. So in a way, we could have left with three points.”

Callum McFarlane emphasized, "This club needs to win, and we haven't. We're not happy with our recent form and some of our performances, so it's really positive to see a complete and excellent game. Of course, it would be even better if we could win, but it's always very difficult to come to a stadium like this, so it's a positive day."

Speaking about Colwell's long absence and return to the pitch, Callum McFarlane said, "I think he played exceptionally well, and I'm really happy for Colwell. I think Colwell was the best player on the pitch. He gave the team the ability to build attacks from the back, and he's a leader. This was also the first time in a long time that he had played a full 90 minutes."

“He was sidelined for a long time due to injury, and with the team’s recent form not being ideal, his first time playing a full 90 minutes was at Anfield away, and to put on such a performance not only demonstrates his talent and ability but also his mentality. So I’m really happy for him and for the team.”
