ESPN's resident renowned Dutch Ajax team correspondent, Thijs Zwagerman, has refuted rumours claiming that Ajax were interested in appointing Liverpool head coach Arne Slot as their new head coach on Tuesday.
According to Zwagerman, not only has no one in the industry heard of Ajax is interested in hiring Slot, but given that Slot was Feyenoord's most successful head coach in recent years, he himself doubted the latter would be interested in the offer.
He said all indications suggest Liverpool have no intention of parting ways with Slot next season, and the coach still has no desire to leave.
The Reds' management will review Slot's coaching performance and future plans with him and the technical staff after the end of the season before making any decisions.
At most, part of Slot's coaching staff will leave Liverpool next season, with assistant coach Giovanni van Bronkhorst, widely considered a potential successor to Feyenoord's sporting director, being the first to leave.
Currently, he has not heard any news of a return for former assistant coach Jonny Heitinga.
The latter is widely rumoured to be returning to Ajax and joining their technical staff.
Upon checking, the rumours about Ajax's interest in appointing Arne Slot as their new head coach was originated from the British fake news expert, The Mirror!
Since taking over as Liverpool head coach in the summer of 2024, the 47-year-old Slot has managed the Reds in 110 matches across all competitions, achieving 66 wins, 17 draws, and 27 losses, with a win percentage of 66%. During which he has helped the club win the Premier League title once and reach the Carabao Cup final once.
