Merlin Raoul admitted that he was very happy to get the opportunity to play, and the support of the fans was also a major motivation.

Following his impressive performance in Everton's 3-3 draw against Manchester City at Hill Dickinson Stadium, Merlin Raoul gave an interview to Everton TV, where he discussed several topics.  

The 23-year-old reviewed the intense match against Manchester City, discussed the significance of playing for Everton, his performance in multiple positions, and the controversial penalty decision triggered by Bernardo Silva's foul. He also shared his thoughts on the unique atmosphere of the home ground.  

Merlin Raoul said : " It's always disappointing to concede a goal late in the game, especially during stoppage time. Both the team as a whole and I personally feel a certain degree of regret. We did have some great plays, but unfortunately we couldn't secure the victory."  

“Of course, I’m very happy to have the opportunity to play and start. It’s been a while since my last start against Aston Villa, so I’ve been patient and hardworking in training. I’m grateful to the manager for his trust in me and for giving me this opportunity. I give my all on the pitch and hope to make an impact. I did help the team in some key moments, which makes me very happy.”  

“Here, I have realized my dream of playing for a great club and competing in the world’s top league. For me, there is no position on the field that I am limited to. I am happy to have the opportunity to play, in front of such great fans, in this great stadium, and there is no position that I cannot play.”  

“Today was the first time I played on the right wing in a long time, but I can play in multiple positions, including right wing, right back, and central midfield. I am always willing to contribute to the team, and it depends on the opponent. Sometimes I need to move further forward, sometimes I can use my speed to participate in counter-attacks, or take on the task of organizing in midfield.”  

When discussing the penalty controversy, he said : " To be honest, we reviewed the video, and Bernardo Silva made similar moves when challenging other players. I think his pulling on my shirt was a bit excessive. I was trying to get past him to win the ball, so at that moment it could have been a penalty."  

Finally, Merlin Raoul added : " I watch many games from the bench, and it's not a good feeling to sit on the sidelines. Being able to play today, hearing the cheers from the fans as the players entered and the celebrations after the goals, gave me a lot of motivation. I will always think about that atmosphere, and that makes me even more eager to play and enjoy the game. I truly felt all of that today, and I am very grateful for it."
