American reporter: The Warriors are expected to re-sign Porzingis this summer and aggressively strengthen their roster.

According to TA reporter Marcus Thompson on the "Warriors Plus Minus" podcast, Kristaps Porzingis is expected to re-sign with the Golden State Warriors this summer.

Kristaps Porzingis, 30, is a 2.18-meter tall, 109-kilogram stretch big man who entered the NBA in 2015 as the fourth overall pick in the first round. He played for the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, and Atlanta Hawks, accumulating 518 regular season games, averaging 19.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.8 blocks in 30.5 minutes per game, and winning the 2024 NBA championship with the Celtics.

In February of this year, Porzingis was sent to the Warriors in a trade involving Jonathan Cuminga. Due to postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS), he has only played 10 games for the Warriors so far, averaging 4.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 blocks in 22.7 minutes per game.

Despite this, Thompson remains confident about Porzingis' contract extension. He stated clearly on his podcast, "I firmly believe that Porzingis and the Warriors will reach some kind of agreement. We will see him continue to wear the Warriors jersey next season." Porzingis is currently in the final year of his contract, having previously signed a two-year, $60 million extension with the Celtics in 2023.

Thompson further pointed out that there is a general consensus within the league that the Warriors will take bold steps in the offseason: "I don't think the league is worried about whether they can win another championship, but rather that they will frantically strengthen their roster before next season."

Another reporter, Hiromi Kawakami, added on the program that the Warriors' potential targets this summer include Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James. He stated that Leonard's contract may be voided by the league due to allegations that the Clippers channeled funds to Leonard through his former sponsor, Aspiration. If the contract expires, Leonard will become a free agent.

As for 41-year-old LeBron James, he has already confirmed that he will become a free agent after this season. Furthermore, the Warriors are not ruling out restarting trade negotiations this summer regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo.
