Bournemouth, nicknamed "The Cherries," will travel to Nottingham Forest for their 38th match of the 2025/26 Premier League season . Andoni Iraola, who will be leading Bournemouth for the last time, said he is very proud to see the team's performance improve over the years.
Andoni Iraola from Spain became Bournemouth's manager in June 2023 and led the "Cherrys" to a place in the Premier League.
In the key match of the 37th round of the Premier League last week, Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Manchester City at home after Krupi scored, and secured European qualification with a 17-game unbeaten record.
Bournemouth are currently in 6th place in the standings with 56 points, and even have a chance to qualify for the Champions League.
Reflecting on his time managing Bournemouth, Andoni Iraola shared, "I've always said that I really enjoyed these three years. From my position, it's very difficult to truly enjoy football. I've often said that as a player, I didn't enjoy football as much as I should have because I put too much thought into the pressure and cared too much about what others thought. But as a manager, I feel I've learned a lot."
“In these three years, I have really enjoyed my job and I also really enjoyed watching my team play. I can see my own style in the team, which is invaluable for a head coach. When I see all of this and feel proud of these players, even when I see those who have left the team and are now playing for other teams, I still feel proud. I think these are the best memories and the most precious things I will take with me in the future.”
Andoni Iraola said, "If I had to choose a special day from these three years, I think I would choose last week's game because we finally have something to celebrate. It wasn't just a great game; many players were playing in European competitions for the first time. Some players have experience in European competitions before, but many more will be playing at this level for the first time."
“I think it’s a wonderful thing for the players. I’ve played in European competitions for several seasons myself, and what I’ve always enjoyed most is playing, recovering, playing again, and recovering again during a season like this. I’ve always preferred that lifestyle, and I believe they will enjoy it very much as well.”
